But to make this possible, there needs to be innovation and transformation in higher education for the core talent essential for regional development. The project ‘Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform’ first began to drive cultivation of talent through innovation of higher education provided by universities in Ulsan and Gyeongnam. By sharing this new higher education model, ‘Shared University’, we want to improve educational conditions of universities across Ulsan and Gyeongnam and, cultivate core regional talent that corporations look for. And in this way, we can accelerate regional development and consequently initiate a virtuous cycle.
Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform’s HQ is responsible for innovating higher education of universities that join the project.
We establish and run various online higher education platforms including the Liberal Arts Platform and Shared Major Platform which are essential elements of USG Shared University. We offer latest teaching and learning methods online and, create educational content integrating advanced technologies. We provide support for building infrastructure such as virtual lecture rooms, remote lecture rooms and student lounges so Shared University lectures are smoothly and efficiently operated. We provide educational content for Shared University and create virtual and physical learning spaces to make learning widely accessible for students in Ulsan and Gyeongnam. If there is a term that would best define the 21st century, it would be ‘Communication and Collaboration’. We believe we must work to reduce polarization and strive for balanced regional development. With all our hearts, we support the government that puts great effort toward achieving balanced regional development, Gyeongnam that is also contributing to that effort and the journey of universities in Ulsan and Gyeongnam. University Education Innovation Headquarters will also join this challenging but meaningful journey to make better Ulsan and Gyeongnam.
